“First the tide rushes In…
Plants a kiss on the shore..
Then rolls out to sea…
And the sea, is very still once more…
So I rush to your side…
Like the oncoming tide..
With one, burning thought…
Will your arms, open wide?”
Ebb Tide by Robert Maxwell, Composer
To offer ourselves to another being in naked love is an incredible act of bravery and vulnerability.
And yet, it is what we are made to do.
Any person transitioning from this plane of existence to the next… who makes a desperate phone call in a time of eminent death… who drunk dials when their ego had slipped away…it is almost always love that spills through….love that is pervasive….love above all.
Why then, when it is what we are made of, what we live for, do we withhold or hide it from others? Why is it so tender an offering that we sometimes keep it locked up inside and fear opening it to others?
We are modeled a world where there is a prescription for love, a script, a hierarchy. In shaping it as such, we have lost the essence of what love truly is - life force energy expressing itself through us into connected co-creation.
Let us ask ourselves - do we truly allow ourselves to express our love, or do we hold back because we fear that once opened and released that we no longer have control over where another being takes it? What it might mean to them, because of those scripts and prescriptions? Is having our love rejected so painful that we cannot see that it isn’t that our love is not good enough, but rather the person is not in the right place to receive it? This filter is actually a healthy thing.
Love is like art in this way, the creation process is our own, and once we release it into the world it belongs to the world and each individual in it. People will engage it in as many different ways as there are people, and our offering is an essential thread in the tapestry of all life.
In this image one being is offering another their most naked self - their energetic body - their source. Their arms are “open wide” There is a kiss activating the sacred geometry of their nervous systems, combining and co-regulating. Will the being in the receptive position submit to this offering and pull the other in?
“At last, we’re face to face….
And as as we kiss, through an embrace…
I can tell, I can feel, you are love, you are real...”
Are we ready to receive love’s offering?
Are we willing to explore the subtle details of what that might mean?
Are we willing to co-create in each and every moment, forgoing the script and trusting ourselves to surf the waves of whatever comes?
Cheek to cheek, shared breath, with or without a kiss…
Laying side by side, shared sound or silence…
Bodies pressed together without destination other than to tune in and find their truest collaborative expression in the moment…Deep listening, adjusting, amplifying, creating, loving…
There is no rush, while simultaneously overcoming hesitation..
Because maybe we do only have this one life where life-force is expressed sensually through these warm bodies and beating hearts.
“Like the tide at its ebb
I'm at peace in the web of your arms”
Points to consider:
-
Is there love we long to express but hesitate? What is holding us back and can that be moved?
-
What are the repercussions of not expressing our hearts and our love?
-
When someone wants to get closer to us in a loving manner, is there a way we can lean more into it? What is our resistance? Is it because of what we “think” it might mean? If we are not a yes to the specific offer/proposal, is there a way we can help shape it collaboratively that would feel good?
