BREATHE

We all have had our heartbeat increase involuntarily. Excitement, anger, anticipation, frustration, anxiety can take us over at any moment and it can feel like we have no say. The antidote to this overwhelm is so simple that we often forget - it is our breath. When we move in conscious relation with our own breath we can respond rather than react, and center ourselves to choose our own path. 

Before we step off of the literal or figurative diving board; before we open our mouths to sing and/or speak; when our snorkel is fully attached and we are face down in the water for the first time ... .BREATHE. BREATHE deep, take your time. Everything else will wait. Don’t n;t rush. You will thank yourself. 

I offer BREATHE as a talisman and invitation to come back to your breath, often. In pleasure, in pain, in ecstasy, in grief - find your breath and SURF the experience of what it means to be alive. If you are having trouble finding your breath, run your fingers over the air bubbles in the glass, it helps more than you may realize.
